Rome with teen DCs

Want to take the teens to Rome for a long weekend break. Can anyone recommend hotels/apartments and also which area of the city would be great to stay in for teens? They are 14 and 17 so be nice for them to be in a lively area (we usually escape to quiet corners but this trip is for them

We rented an apartment from airbnb and stayed in the jewish ghetto part of Rome. Was very central but we ended up always eating in trastevere so if I went again I would stay there. Rome is very walkable.

We stayed at the Mercure near the Collosseum. It has a cool rooftop bar and pool with great views. Walking distance to lots of the sights.

We stayed air bnb in campo de fiore - loads of restaurants bars etc and easy walk to everywhere
