Somewhere special for 50th - inspiration needed!

After a terrible couple of years, I'm looking to mark my 50th with my 2 older teen DDs. I like Majorca but anywhere that's warm, with a bit of life, but not a party town! I just want to do something memorable. Something that can help wipe away all the sad things that have happened would be perfect.Hmm

Anyone have any ideas?

What sort of things do you all like doing? Sunbathing? Exploring? Sport?

bingohandjob · 25/01/2018 19:25

For something special, I'd have to go for Venice. It's magical.

Maybe an activity holiday such as Mark Warner?

New York?

Sunsail Flotilla sailing holiday

I like exploring and wandering around cobbled streets etc. but the teens like lazing and eating out. We went on safari once and they loved that but i can't afford that. Maybe a really nice hotel with a pool somewhere hot? They enjoy going out in a little boat. I like the sound of the flotilla! Need a mix though. They're a bit old for mark warner. I like venice but it would be a bit hot in july august.

Lisbon/Cascais/Estoril/Sintra. Ticks all your boxes.

I hadn't considered portugal. I'll have a look. I think the hotel is as important as the place. I don't usuall stay anywhere really smart, but I'd like to spoil myself as no-one else is going to!

I was about to say Lisbon. Beautiful city. Not heaving with people and great food.

Brighteyes27 · 25/01/2018 20:49

Barcelona is nice or Rome.

I definately want to be near the sea. Blow the divorce cobwebs away!

Sorrento, cobbled streets, lovely hotels, on the coast, loads of trips available eg Vesuvius and Pompeii.
But might be too hot depending on when you go. We’ve been a couple of times in September, and the weather has been beautiful.

MadeinBelfast · 25/01/2018 21:43

Maybe Malta? We had a great time, lots of history but also nice restaurants and places to lounge in the sun.

Imagine123 · 25/01/2018 23:18

I'll have to go in August unfortunately. I've never been to malta but I am dreaming of white sandy beaches really. I know that might be difficult to find in Europe though. I think Greece would be too hot in August.

If you think Venice will be too hot in August, then it's going to be hard finding somewhere with white sandy beaches.

I went to Menorca for my 50th
I love it there, so laid back with gorgeous beaches and lots of little towns to explore
