We're looking for a summer holiday destination this year. I'm quite liking the thought of Sardinia. We did the Amalfi Coast a couple of years ago and I was underwhelmed. Are the beaches better in Sardinia? Where are the best places to go? Two adults and two children 14 and 10.
No specific budget to adhere to.

Yes the beaches are beautiful. You get better weather in the South. The really glam resorts are in the North. If you want a family friendly resort and have a very generous budget look at the Forte Village resort.

We stayed in Alghero 2 years ago. In August. It was beautiful but too hot for me. I'd love to go back though! Beaches were stunning!

We stayed in Baia Sardinia which was gorgeous. Delfina.it group has lots of resorts in the North of the island which are cheaper than Forte.

Thanks everyone. That gives me a good few things to start looking at.

Lonely planet recommended this beach right at the north west tip. We drove for a while to get there but it was amazing!!! Beautiful clear waters with teeny fish. It was so dreamy swimming there.

We stayed on the Costa Smerelda a few years ago. We hired an Airbnb and a car.
It was very hot but the beaches very beautiful and the sea an amazing colour.
BUT it was so expensive to eat out and hire sun beds for the beach.
We only had pizzas out for dinner but for 4 of us with a soft drink was about 80€
We were near a marina and it really was amazing to see how the other half live. The boats were incredible.

Thanks ihatethecold you've just reminded me of our two weeks in Sorrento where we paying 90 euros a day for sun beds.
Ideally we would like to just rent an apartment but maybe a hotel with beach facilities would be a better option. Will keep researching.

West coast is much cheaper for accommodation than the north west and has equally lovely beaches, and is less windy.

Sorry west is cheaper than north east !
