Venice in less than a day

Four of us are off to Venice for the day (as you do), we'll be arriving about 12.30 and leaving early evening. Any suggestions for a nice mid-price place to eat and must see places. I know it's a big ask but wondered what were the definately see rather than the 'meh' venues. Many thanks.

Take the waterbus up/down the grand canal to soak it all in, wherever you get off wander away from the crowds and you're bound to find a bar serving cicchetti (Venetian version of tapas...small plates/bites, ask for whatever is available few € each max), enjoy an Aperol Spritz or three (the further away from the main drag, the cheaper they are!h or take a look here for ideas www.theguardian.com/travel/2017/nov/13/venice-italy-restaurants-lunch-trattoria-osteria-top-ten it's such a beautiful place. Hope you have a wonderful day.
