Lanzarote in February. Have you been ?

Due to various reasons, the only possible destination is Lanzarote (husband wouldn't do long hauls, only 9days of Holidays, would rather not go to cold destination as it's cold here 😁)
DD is 4 and DS is 14 months.
Going mid Feb. Family friendly hotel well rated by families on travel advice website. Weather expected to be 18 at best.

My question is, have you been in a similar position? Was it warm enough to let the kids play on the beach (not necessarily swim)? Are kids brands (snacks, nappies, wipes) available on the Spanish island?

Any feedback would be greatly helpful. Thanks

I will be wearing Boden and doing loud parenting

I have been at easter and it wasn't very warm.
Tenerife was warmer in February than Lanzarote in April.

HeddaGarbled · 22/01/2018 00:07

I was there February half term last year. Arrived in torrential rain. First two days were windy (very windy) and overcast but t shirt temperatures. Rest of the week was glorious, sunny and 22-25 C.

Our hotel had one heated and one unheated pool. The unheated pool was definitely too cold.

If the children can cope with it, I would strongly recommend a trip to the volcanic national park (can't remember the name). It's like nowhere I've ever seen before - like something from another planet.

Timanfaya

thinkfast · 22/01/2018 07:26

I've been there in February before. The weather was very mixed. We had about 4 nice days where it was beach weather and 6 cold/ rainy days when it was definitely jumper/jacket weather. We hired a Car and explored the island on those days

LoniceraJaponica · 22/01/2018 07:28

Timanfaya is awesome. You can't drive around it yourself but a coach tour is included in the price and is a must.

NotSoSureX · 22/01/2018 07:36

Ladies with younger ones, will I need I baby carrier to use at Timanfaya ? Will be getting of the coach ?

You get off the coach at the end to have a look around the visitor centre and a drink or something.

There is no distance to walk though

numbereightyone · 22/01/2018 08:54

I love Lanzarote. To escape the British winter for a week of sunshine after a short haul flight is a glorious thing.

Emy0306 · 22/01/2018 08:54

We go every year. Can only guarantee weather in July and august. Cold in April and rained in may.
Feb March are like a decent summer day here , maybe 16/17 but cardigans needed.
It's possible you'll strike lucky and get a heatwave but it's never happened to us in 20 years .
Lidl is great, can buy anything you need , I never bring nappies

numbereightyone · 22/01/2018 08:57

I am never too bothered about the heat. It's the light that I really love. Escaping grey skies in February is wonderful.

NotSoSureX · 22/01/2018 09:19

Thank you everyone. I will report back during and after Holidays if anyone is interested xx

Of course Smile

We went two years ago Feb half term. When the sun was out it was nice. But the fucking wind was relentless. Pool very cold and only one beach day one a few miles from playa Blanca was a bit of a drive but was quite sheltered.

Saying that loved Lanzarote was much nicer than expected.

Would hire a car. And make sure it’s a full to full cause lots are full to empty and even driving in 3rd and doing lots of Days our we only used 1/2 a tank in a week.

AnyFucker · 22/01/2018 16:45

It's 24 deg in Lanzarote today......

DrudgeJedd · 22/01/2018 16:50

We went last Easter, the kids loved lurching and weaving about on the camel ride at the bottom of Timanfaya.

NotSoSureX · 22/01/2018 20:08

Wind 🤔 wind wouldn't be nice.
