Canada with kids

Hi
Lot of Canada threads right now I know ... wandering if you all received the Trailfinders magazine like me as that is what has set me off! Anyway...
If travelling with kids (7 & 5) what would you do? I'd like to go in summer, stay somewhere nice where they can chill and swim but also be able to get to see sights without being on a stuffy tour. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Completely depends on where in Canada you want to go as the country is massive. Any ideas?

Country is huge - loads to see everywhere.

We did a trip to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island last summer and it was just lovely.

Literally no idea! Just been inspired. Maybe to the west Vancouver/rockys. Yes I know pretty big but any areas better for families please let me know thanks!

Vancouver is one place to check out. It’s a smallish city which would be good if you want to see things but it also has easy access to the outdoors and activities from there. Beautiful scenery, beaches, parks, hikes, etc.

Another thing you might want to consider is somewhere like Ontario. You could fly into Toronto and do some sightseeing there and around Niagara Falls, then head up to cottage country (1-2 hours north of Toronto) where there are cottages and beaches.

Thanks like the sound of cottage country!

This will give you an idea of the different cottage places to go in Ontario: theculturetrip.com/north-america/canada/articles/ontarios-best-spots-to-rent-a-cottage-in-summer/

I would put wildlife watching high on my list for west Canada. Whales and bears especially. My children loved seeing whales and bears. You can go to Vancouver Island and book animal sightseeing trips or go to specialist lodges. Summer is peak bear viewing. The Icefields Parkway is stunning and I am sure you would like Banff and Jasper.

We did vancouver island which was incredible last summer. From there we travelled back to the mainland and to Lund which is magical, down the sunshine Coast and over to the okanagan valley. Then up and across to pemberton near whistler. It was the trip of a lifetime. Hope you enjoy it!
