Hotels: Any advice on getting good rates

I'm going to Paris for 2 days end of Feb. I don't want to pay lots for hotel, am happy with modest/ mid range but don't want to share a bathroom. My usual place near the Luxembourg is quoting £140 per night for a single. Ideally I'd like a bit cheaper e.g. £100pn.
Anyone have tips on finding good deals ?. I'm flexible on area but don't want to be in the burbs. Thank you.

Find one you like on hotels.com or lastminute, then call the hotel direct. they can often give you a better price if you contact them direct.

I don’t think you can rely on one website you need to trawl all the big ones- laterooms, trivago, booking.com etc

I use trivago and then once I have a price book via quidco.

Agree that you should look on booking site and then go direct.

Use TopCashBack. Many hotels are actually part of a chain and cash back sites have those plus booking sites too.

Email reception to see if you can get the best room you can. Often it's less about the hotel itself but what room you are allocated. Balconies, views, bathrooms that don't have glass doors ( looking at you Barcelona) make or break a holiday.
