Best time to book flights

Listening to Chris Evans yesterday he was talking about Jan being the best month to book flights, up to 50% off etc, he got his friend a great deal by doing x followed by y (he didn't say what). I'm waiting to book flights to Fuertoventura, they're the same price now as they were last year. I use sky scanner etc so is there something else I need to be checking? We're looking at £1200 currently for 3 day flights in August Confused

Put your browser on private and search then. Just search on google cheap flights to... I'm sure you'll find it cheaper then again summer holidays is always a rip off!!

If you're getting the same price as last year, that might be as good as you're going to get. The exchange rate and people switching from Turkey and Egypt to the Canaries is pushing prices up. Also, many people will have booked August flights months ago. If Monarch flew to Fuerteventura, you've also got the people who had booked with them, adding to demand.

Only other things you could do is go late August from Scotland or try going indirect, perhaps via Amsterdam, Madrid or Barcelona, make sure this option is available when searching, ie that 'direct only' isn't checked.

youre unlikely to get bargain flights to any popular tourist summer destination in august at any time of the year. Why would they put those on sale.

Summer holiday flights, are probably best to get when flights are first released.

I'm booking now for Ryanair flights mid April, so 3 months for off peak. For August I'd start in October (10 months)!

Book flights as early as possible. Easy jet you can see the prices a year in advance. Cheapest if you avoid Easter, Christmas, summer

I was told by some one I know who works in pricing for an airline that it works thus -
When the flights first come out the prices are high because those people who MUST be on that particular flight will book it then.
After this period the prices will fluctuate according to the statistics they hold.
When it becomes very close to the flight departure date prices will rise again, because, once again, if you need to be on this particular flight you will pay it.

I'd book the seats alright, but you'd hardly need 2 cases for 3 of you? No way would I pay for a meal, airline food is muck! Get a Boots meal deal at the airport and save yourself for a lovely lunch/dinner when you get there.
