Best Greek Island with a Sandy Beach?

BaconAndAvocado · 16/01/2018 21:28

Looking for an AI resort on a Greek Island, near a sandy beach, not too lively.

We are a family of 4, DCs are 9 and 11.

Looking to go in August.

Any ideas?

Lassi in Kefalonia has a lovely beach but we never go AI so can't help you there, I'm afraid. It has some great self-catering places - little groups of apartments around a pool with a pool bar - and is a quiet resort, families rather than noisy groups and night clubs.

That sounds interesting, Kefalonia is somewhere I've always wanted to visit.

I'll have a look into the island.

I wouldn’t go AI in Greece - the local food/restaurants are so good.

I was gonna suggest Lassi in Kefalonia or Tsilivi in Zakynthos...

Been to Tsivili, beautiful.

We definitely want AI.

Crete seems to have lots of sandy beaches but I've only been to Malia as a youngster!

Anyone know what the quieter parts of Crete are?

We're going to Elounda but haven't been before so can't comment. You may struggle now though as lots of places already booked up.

Yippee, just booked a holiday!
We're going to Cyprus, can't wait!

One of the most beautiful sandy beach I have seen in the world is Elafonisi in Crete. Stunning, beautiful, amazing and I live in Australia, so I have seen my fair share of beaches in Europe and Oceania .

So perfect with kids, water is shallow

Patienceisvirtuous - I haven’t been to Greece for almost 20 years is it still putting toilet paper in a waste bin in the toilet or have things moved on please? That always knocks me off with the DC.

Patienceisvirtuous · 26/01/2018 23:12

Unfortunately, yes!

Brighteyes27 · 27/01/2018 08:02

Thanks I thought things would have moved on.
