I'm off to Paris......what must I do/see?

DP has booked us a weekend in Paris for my birthday, no children....just us
I have a little travel guide but it is very matter-of-fact. For anyone that has been to Paris, if you had to chose just one place to visit/eat, where would it be?
Also, I am a veggie and am a little concerned that I will struggle for food....any other veggies got any experience/suggestions/recommendations?

My top fave place to visit is the Museé d'Orsay.

Thanks roisin and sally. You've answered alot of the question Sally, thanks!! We are staying in the Millenium Opera which, I understand, is pretty central.
I eat dairy but no fish...do you think I'll struggle?

Rodin museum imo.
One of the loveliest small museums I've ever been too. Just fab.

ipanemagirl · 27/04/2007 12:55

have just googles 'vegetarian paris' apparently are 20 veggie restaurants there.

schneebly · 27/04/2007 12:58

we went in feb too and agree about montmartre and sacre coeur. Notre dame catherdral is breathtaking too and if you are doing the eiffel tower and are feeling fit you have a much shorter queue if you take the stairs to the 1st floor!

schneebly · 27/04/2007 12:59

oh and as for being veggie we mostly ate bread, cheese and crepes anyway!

schneebly · 27/04/2007 13:01

the grande arche in the La Defense business distric is pretty coold too and the area is soo different from the rest of paris!

schneebly · 27/04/2007 13:03

oh and a paris visite 2 day metro pass is great value for money at 13 euros per person - you can get them from larger metro stations.

Lucky you, sounds fantastic!

La Sainte Chapelle

Beautiful beautiful windows. Go early and avoid the queues, and then have lunch in one of the little places on the Ile de Paris (the west end of it has a little square where you could think yourself in a small town).
That's how I remember it anyway...
