Where in Thailand?

So have a big birthday coming up this year and myself and husband would like to go to Thailand but no idea where. We would lile to go to one of the islands not Bangkok. We would only have a week and anytime from summer to end of year. Would like a reallt nice hotel on the beach, but maybe close to a town with a bit of hustle and bustle, maybe a market. Good food a must. And just generally something a bit special. Any suggestions?

I'd really recommend the Anantara Bophut hotel on Koh Samui....only a 2 min walk from Fisherman's village, so ideal for eating out / bars...beautiful hotel and grounds and fabulous spa and right on the beach
We stayed there 3 yrs ago in July and the weather was lovely...hot and only 1day of thunderstorms but cleared up very quickly and didn't spoil the holiday....lots of places to visit in Koh Samui too

There's a sale on their website at the moment, although if you book through Travelbag or Trailfinders, they usually price match and there's an Emirates Sales a s well until end of the month
