What do you like doing? What's your budget? And where have you already been?

Minniemountain · 14/01/2018 13:55

I am too! DH and I are going to Rome to spot ancient ruins.

I was just looking yesterday at the Blue Lagoon in Reykjavik and thought what a great long weekend it would make.

We did Marrakesh for my 40th, was a fantastic few days. Sightseeing, great hotel with spa, and lovely food.

DereksGotATail · 14/01/2018 14:13

Barcelona is nice - plenty to see and do.

I am turning 40 in a few weeks as well. Looking for ideas

Barcelona and Marrakesh were amazing.
Also Carcassonne in the south of France.

Thank you :) jelly - we did Iceland, blue lagoon and riding on the coast...it was amazing, would do it again. It's just really expensive !!!

I don't have a budget yet.. I love Scandinavia, went to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Reykjavik but my birthday is in December. So far we looked at igloo in Norway and Aarhus in Denmarck.

Have you been to the ultimate fairytale city...Prague? There's so much to do and the Christmas markets are next to none!

AuntieStella · 14/01/2018 17:16

Rome would be my first choice.

Others: Valletta, St Helier, Cologne, Avignon

Laska5772 · 14/01/2018 17:23

I went to Florence for a 'big' birthday in December.. 5days.. We could have stayed longer there was so much to see.. It rained a couple of days but when the sun came out it was really quite warm.. The locals were complaining it was cold ,

jellybeanteaparty · 19/01/2018 13:48

Budapest is lovely and good cost wise Good Christmas markets too.

practicallyimpractical38 · 19/01/2018 13:53

How about New York?

CompassionateKebab · 19/01/2018 13:55

Strasbourg and Colmar and Freiburg have beautiful xmas markets and are extremely pretty in general.

I am going to add; Copenhagen, Prague , Venice, Iceland, Edinburgh, Paris, Marrakesh, Amsterdam, Egypt, find somewhere where there are things that you like doing and seeing. If your budget stretches you could do a 2 centre holiday or a cruise. Perhaps time your visit when there is a festival or market.
