Weekend in Liverpool

I'm off for an overnight stay in Liverpool with new dp... We'll probably be around the waterfront during the day... Where's the best areas/streets to head for for nice buzzy bars and restaurants in the evening? Thinking cocktails and craft beer, bustly restaurants rather than fine dining...Maybe with a bit of live music? Is Matthew st area still ok?
Thanks

I’d avoid Matthew Street to be honest. There are much nicer places to go to.

Bold street has some lovely restaurants, mainly indépendant and then you can just hop over to Seel Street where there are loads of bars.

Castle street also has some good restaurants and bars.

There’s also a relatively new food hall/market called the Baltic Market that is supposed to great. The Baltic Triangle in general is pretty cool. Sure you’ll find some craft beers there.

Check out the independent Liverpool Facebook page for some inspiration.

Im in Liverpool, my kids have been to the Baltic market but prefer the Baltic Social nearby (try the punk afternoon tea!) These are near the waterfront. The Baltic Fleet used to be great but they stopping brewing their own beer and the toilets are disgusting. For craft beer in the city centre I'd second Seel St area particularly The Grove or Kazimier Garden (outdoors but they do have heating!) The Sanctuary on Lime St is new and has a great range of real ales with a cosy downstairs bit very popular place (My mum's friend owns it) Castle St is more upmarket but not that posh. Or what about Hope St? Loads of bars and places to eat. Go and see the famous mens toilets in the Philharmonic pub!

Our favourite is the ship and mitre on Dale St they have a massive selection of real ales and gorgeous scouse 😀

Get yourself a saveaway from the train station its only £4 you can use on all buses all day at weekends - Its a bit of a trek from the Albert Dock to the town centre.

I want to go out now!!

Thanks so much both I can't wait now! I'm from Liverpool too but only lived there as a child so don't know city centre at all... I used to go to school on Hope St tho!

Totally forgot about the Hope Street area - it’s lovely up there. The Quarter is one of my favorite places to sit and watch the world go by. I used to live on Falkner street and I miss it!

Also going to Liverpool with DH in a few months for his birthday (surprise trip) so watching with interest.

So far I have booked dinner at a restaurant called Gusto which looks lovely, and possibly planning a trip on the colourful ferry thing (forgotten the name lol!). I've had a look on Trip Advisor but so many of the things to do seem to be centred around The Beatles, which is great if you're a fan..

Had a top night in Liverpool couple a months ago. Went to the arena and then out for drinks, I remember one was called Popworld. Not sure about craft beers though. Will try get the names of the other places and the hotel, it was basic but alright.
