Looking for recommendations for a week in May for me, OH and 4 year old.
Last holiday we camped in Spain which was lovely, but food wasn't great for me as a vegetarian. We're kind of limited as need to fly from Belfast and don't have as many flight options here. Most of Spain is covered ok, some of Greece, Croatia, Italy very limited, France too. I've ruled out France as not as warm as I'd like in May.

Strongest contender so far is Lanzrarote, great as we wouldn't need car hire either. Have never been though - are the resorts very busy? Wouldn't want too much nightlife etc, just somewhere quiet but within walking distance to a few restaurants, beach etc.

Thanks!

Italy
Italy
Italy

DD is vegetarian, and Italy seems to be the best place for getting veggie food, although you have to watch out for some of the cheeses as many are not vegetarian.

Oh, and we love Italy. I'm not sure how good Lanzarote is for vegetarian food. It probably depends on the resort.

I really want Italy (loved Tuscany on my one visit years ago) but can't get to from Belfast - would have to be from Dublin (hours driving both ways, flight times not great for young child etc....) - it's just not that convenient and we really just want a cheap-ish week somewhere fairly nice.

Have never been to Portugal and can fly to Faro from Belfast?

Sorry, just double-checked and yes, one option in May from Belfast to Naples. For us to fly at end of May though with a bag or two is about £850 though - we can almost the have entire elsewhere for that price though Shock!!

It's because it is half term. Is your 4 year old at school? Can you avoid the school holidays?

yogaginrepeat · 11/01/2018 11:30

I didn't realise it was half term as it's not here in NI! Weird though as other flights aren't that expensive at that time - to Spain, Canaries etc. I assumed the high cost was due to no competition for flights from Belfast to Italy at that time of year!

I've just checked English half term dates and it's from Monday 28th May. Flights I've been looking at are the week before - 20th to 27th ish.

Some schools in the England - an increasing number - have 2 weeks at May half term also the private schools all have 2 weeks off including that week.
