Majorca in April

Has anyone been to Majorca in April? Where would you recommend staying? We won't have a car. DC are 8 and 11. Don't mind about it not being hot, but don't want to stay somewhere that's dead out of season. Really like Palma but not sure I would want to spend the whole week in the city.
Thanks!

We did palma nova last April. Was warm, off season so not very busy / party atmosphere and can easily do day trips to other places such as Palma

Personally I would stay in palma, hotel with pool and beach and city-no brainier. Resorts are limited when you can’t sit and read round the pool.

If you stay in Palma, you can easily travel to other parts of the island by bus or train and it's easy for the airport.

Eg there is the mountain train to Soller, and then you can go to Puerto Soller. Or there's all the stuff in the city such as the aquarium, and just being in the city, or you could get the bus to other places.

I did a walking weekend in Majorca in April 2 years ago and I rained. A lot. Just worth bearing in mind. Not what we expected at all!

I know you said about not minding it not being hot, but just as pp mentioned the rain; we've been caught by it too. 5 days out of 7, in early May. It felt like our manky cold weather and was seriously not fun!

thanks all, very good points! I have been to Palma in late January and i rained constantly and all the old buildings felt very damp. The hotel we stayed in didn't have thick blankets as it was unusually cold, so it was a bit miserable. Have also had a lovely time in May, but that included rain on at least half the days (but at least it was warm). So maybe that is all putting me off.

It's just the flights are really cheap in April!

Initially I was thinking we'd stay in Palma for a couple of nights to have a bit of city action, then go to a smaller town like Soller or Alcudia, from where we could go on walks etc. I don't want to be at a resort when everything is closed, but do you think even those towns would be dead in spring?
