Where shall I take my 14 yr old DD for October half term? She loved Amsterdam last year. I was thinking of New York but its very expensive. Any ideas?

Barcelona is a lovely city to visit Smile I went with dd and found plenty to occupy us!

mayhew · 08/01/2018 18:13

Paris, Prague, Budapest were all great with DD. New York was a graduation present!

Ricekrispie22 · 08/01/2018 19:50

I second Barcelon. There's a huge amount to do for all ages and interests.

egginacup · 08/01/2018 19:53

I came on here to say Barcelona! Took my 8yo and 6yo last year, they loved all the Gaudi stuff. I would recommend not staying right in the centre though, we stayed in Eixample, which was much quieter and felt safe walking around in the evenings.

If she's interested in history, Berlin is a fantastic place for a city break.

HannaSolo · 08/01/2018 19:55

Another one about to say Barcelona but been beaten to it.....

Loads to do and see in a very beautiful city.

Might want to keep up with the news though atm re: independence.

Another option is Berlin. Again lots to see and do.

I'm not doing very well on unique suggestions on this thread Blush

DD is 15, and recommends Copenhagen, Budapest, Brussels, Hamburg and Krakow (also loved Amsterdam).

Iwannabeadog · 08/01/2018 20:08

Valencia is fab too. Smaller but has amazing green space, beautiful old buildings and fab restaurants.

Shadow1986 · 08/01/2018 20:10

Never been but really want to go to Switzerland so I’ll say Geneva!

frenchfancy · 08/01/2018 20:10

Naples. My teens live it. Roman ruins, volcanos and pizza - what's not to love?

frenchfancy · 08/01/2018 20:10

love it obviously!

combatbarbie · 08/01/2018 20:11

Barcelona, Madrid, Seville.....we lived in Spain for 3yrs with my 10 & 4yr olds they loved all of them but would prob say they preferred Madrid because of the Warner Brother Park. I loved Barcelona and Seville. Cordoba and Grenada are lovely too.

Also Italy - Rome is fab as was Tuscany and Lake Garda was just beautiful but quiet/not much there.

littleflowershop · 08/01/2018 20:14

Lisbon is wonderful, as is Barcelona, Paris or Bruges!

LimePickleEnthusiast · 14/01/2018 15:36

I went to Barcelona with my 14 year old DD last summer. We only went for 2 nights but had a great time. Where did you stay in Amsterdam?

Grufeling · 22/01/2018 20:36

Lisbon. Stay in the old quarter and ride the trams. There's a tower you can go up for views, a castle, lovely day visits by bus and train. We (me and dd, aged 16) airbnb-ed it.

franksidebottom · 22/01/2018 22:22

Definitely Lisbon, went in October last year and the weather was beautiful still mid 20s

PerfumeIsAMessage · 24/01/2018 08:07

Madrid, Lisbon or Paris.

YellowPrimula · 24/01/2018 08:10

Rome , plenty of history both classical and medieval and modern .Easy public transport, good food , pizza, pasta etc and of course ice cream.
