We have a long list of requirements but we're also pretty laid back so I'm absolutely stumped on where to start looking. Hoping someone can suggest something?

We're a family of three - DS will be four when we go.
Not sporty. At all. Not even a bit.
Like our food - and DS eats like a grown up..! Won't sleep, but we're not dependent on child friendly menu's.
Up for doing whatever - DS animal mad in particular
Happy self catering or not
Happy UK or not
Wherever it is MUST be really easy to do via public transport
Probably looking at around 5 nights, in summer hols or October half term
Somewhere with other kids around would be good
We're in Surrey, if that helps!

Google is displeased at my vagueness.

if you are looking for abroad then I would pick a city break somewhere like rome or Barcelona. transport will be easy.

You could go to Edinburgh and see the panda! It looks easy enough on a train from c London.
We are thinking of going for Feb half term but I’m thinking it might be too cold!

For abroad Mallorca is nice & you don t need a car ( depending where you stay)

This park is flagged by Eurocamp as one that really doesn't require a car as the airport is just 18km away and bus stop right outside. The beach is within easy walking distance so you wouldn't need to use public transport much. Two restaurants and take away on site, but the real draw for you would be the animal farm at the park. www.eurocamp.co.uk/campsites/languedoc/wm029-domaine-de-la-yole/ataglance.html

Brilliant, thanks all! Couple of ideas to look into.
I love Rome, but I think because I remember doing it as a couple I couldn't really think what there was for children. Obviously there must be stuff! DH would be keen to go back too!
