Booked flights for four night trip to Porto on basis it'll be a relaxing food and drink break. First trip to Porto so any suggestions on where to stay, what to do, what to eat and bring home gratefully received. Thank you.

Is it just adults?

We went last April with 2 DC's. We stayed at Novotel. It wasn't in the centre but taxi was 5/10 mins or a 40 min walk. The walk was fab as there is a walkway alongside the river.

There are lots of Cellar tours for Port Wine (Taylor's is lovely).

There's a fantastic book shop that you have to pay to get into. It was part of the inspiration for Hogwarts when JK Rowling was living there called Livraria Lello. The railway station building is amazing. Lots of churches too. Old trams do cultural tours.

Lots of stuff to see depending on your interests. We bought the Lonely Planets Pocket Porto which was really useful. Have a super time.

For the bookshop, the ticket price is redeemable against a book. They have books in many languages.

Bumping for any more ideas on parts of the city to stay, things to do, places to eat. Thanks for suggestions so far!
