Dubai car seats

Hi

We are off to Dubai and wondering if anyone can advise on car seats for my 17month old. We have transfers with car seats included so will only potentially need one if we get a taxi and we are planning a trip to Lego land. However I have heard that by law all taxi'S are meant to have them in their boot. Just wondering if that really is the case?! Would prefer not to lug one with us but at the same time do not want to travel in Dubai with toddler on my lap in taxi!

That’s not the case I’m afraid. You can get the local version of Uber (Careem) who have a special kids ride you can book which have car seats. Or the ladies cabs (pink roof) also usually carry them. Depending on where you are staying you may be able to arrange with the hotel, and there are also local services where you can rent baby equipment for the duration of your stay. That might be an option if you don’t want to carry one with you.

Thank you Sherlockdeerstalker that is really very helpful. Does the kids service on Careem have good availability etc? Would you just use this service if it was you? I don't mind taking a car seat with us but it just means purchasing a light weight travel one and since having kids, I am so aware of how much stuff we acquire and only use once or twice hate the wastage.

We bought the urban kanga car seat for travelling.
kanga

It is very light and easy to fit in quickly.
