Santorini- Amazing views vs swimming pool

Hi all,

Just looking to book a place in Santorini in late June for half a week. Our allotted budget can only stretch so far. I've found two places that look great.

One is a traditional cave studio in the heart of Oia. It doesn't have a pool or hot tub but does have the most amazing views.

For the same price we could get a room/studio with a swimming pool but not so good location and no breathtaking views that everyone goes to Santorini for.

What would you do? Pool or views ?

The next part of our trip will have a hot tub.

I'd go for the views. Assuming there's a look nearby you can use.

Went to santorini couple of years ago. Stayed just outside Oia. About 10 minutes walk. I’d go for the pool. You can always get the views in a bar, restaurant or coffee shop.

Pool. Views are great, but there is a limit to how long you can gaze at them. Whereas you can dip in and out of a pool, laze by it, dabble your toes, try to sit on an inflatable, play Marco Polo, practise your weakest swimming stroke in case the plane goes down, wash your sticky fingers after eating watermelon ............

If you're doing an adult holiday, views everytime. If you're taking the kids, it has to be the pool!

No kids, just the two of us Grin

Lucky you!! Go with what suits you best, if you're keen on pool lounging then go for 2nd option but if you're not that fussed go with the view. Personally, I get a bit mardy sitting on my bum around a pool for more than an hour or 2 so know what I'd go for!

Views. We went to Oia two years ago and honestly the views are just breathtaking. Pps commenting 'pool' haven't been to Oia!!

We went a couple of years ago and it is amazing to stay on the edge of the caldera and see the cruise ships moored below. It does get unbelievably hot in the afternoons, and we were there quite early in the summer.

It was a really interesting stay

I would say pool. As when you're there there's plenty of restaurants and bars that give you stunning views.

Just an update, we still couldn't decide between view and somewhere to cool off !

In the end we booked a couple of nights in a bargain cheap traditional cave house inland that has access to a pool. We think this will let us explore one half of the island for a few days and not just the tourist Mecca.

Then for an absolutely crazy price per night (and breaking the bank but shh), for a couple of nights we booked a villa right on the caldera front.... uninterrupted views, private hot tub, concierge, in the heart of Oia..

Can't wait !
