Advice re; freecycle

Hi, i've recently posted a wanted ad on freecycle and someone has responded saying they have the item i'm looking for. I'm going to look at it this week to see if its what i'm looking for, but do I offer money for it because I read that people who offer items are offering them FOC, but technically she's just responding to my advert. What do I do when I go and its what I want, do i offer money or do I just say thanks and disappear with it. My gut instinct is to offer money but I obviously don't want to pay for it if I don't have to!

You don't pay; just say thank you!

Yeah, we got a sideboard and a cupboard on freecycle as we are moving house and the house we're moving to has nothing in it. You just take it and go. You don't pay anything, that's why it is FREE cycle.

yeah i know i just feel guilt because i could be taking from someone who could sell the item and make some money. I still don't want to pay if i don't have to though. The guilt will probably last for as long as it takes for me to get out of the house!

if they wanted to make money from it they wouldn't be on freecycle.

just offer something you don't want on freecycle soon and you won't feel so bad!

Some people just want to get rid of stuff without the hassle of selling it. I act on the basis that what goes round comes round - I freecycled my double buggy a while ago, and have just picked up a great little bike for DS1 from someone else. It's good karma (i sound like a lentil weaver now )

ok, we'll see how i get on later. i just hope its what i want now i'm agonising over taking from people.
