I'm thinking of going with my DH for a few nights for some winter son. We have friends who say the old town is lovely, but others who have bad reports of it. I'd be interested to know what MNers think. We want nice restaurants and bars (not loud) and interesting places to visit. Any thoughts?

We really like it. Trip advisor will tell you as I can't remember names but there's a great sherry bar, a vegetarian restaurant, some lovely places for breakfast.
The moorish palace on the edge of the old town is stunning. There's a nice cafe attached to the outside of it.
Plus trains from the airport there are easy.

The sherry bar is close to the market btw.
