For self catered villa during February half term, where is best - Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura or Tenerife? Xx

Another bump from me! I'm looking for one too.

Lanzarote, without a doubt

Have a look at Playa Blanca for a great choice of villas

Thanks Fucker (haha - started writing "Any" but this is much better).

Why without a doubt? Better for kids or just better generally?

What do you like doing on holiday?
Lanzarote can be very windy.
But it is flatter than some of the others so easier to get around to different places (rather than driving on the edge of a volcano the whole time).
Fuer.. has better sand.

8FencingWire · 02/01/2018 20:59

Lanzarote, definitely :)

cedoren · 02/01/2018 21:00

Lanzarote

Cassimin · 02/01/2018 21:02

Gran Canaria for me.
Didn't like any of the other islands but been to gc 3 times.

PeterIanStaker · 02/01/2018 21:04

Another vote for Lanzarote (Playa Blanca specifically, as mentioned above).

holycityzoo · 02/01/2018 21:08

Another vote for playa blanca. Resort is nice as is the little port. Il Comandatore and the Casa Roja are both nice restaurants. We stayed at the Princess Yaiza which was really lovely and also has nice restaurants which you can use you're nota guest.

Have a look at Gran Can, the Lopesan Baobab. We have been at half term in Feb and also October, liked it.

Ijustlovefood · 02/01/2018 21:12

Yes Playa Blanca is lovely

iggleypiggly · 02/01/2018 21:13

South Fuerteventura, Jandia. Beautiful beaches. One of our favourite places out of all of the Canaries Smile

Playa Blanca in lanzarote for me too.
Try A1 villas, lots of villas but very high standards of cleanliness and good communication

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 02/01/2018 22:05

I'd recommend Lanzarote, playa blanca, any of the villas in faro park, most have private heated pools. You'll need a car, but there's lots to see, we love Cesar manrique.

AnyFucker · 02/01/2018 22:20

Haven't been to Fuerteventura

Gran Canaria is scruffy, Tenerife like Blackpool. I love Lanzarote.

user1494670108 · 03/01/2018 09:28

I'm loving the thought of being surrounded by fellow Mumsnetters when I'm in PB!

ShimmeringBollox · 03/01/2018 09:33

I have only been to FurterVentura in the Canaries.
It is OK, beaches are beautiful as are the mountains. Food is a bit boring, there are only so many Canarian potatoes you can eat.
Will check out Lanzarote.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/01/2018 09:35

We hated Playa Blanca.

I’d go for Jandia in Fuerteventura, it’s so much nicer.

pluginbaby00 · 03/01/2018 09:59

Gran Canaria, right in the south is warmest and far from scruffy if you avoid certain resorts. Try maspalomas or Puerto Mogan. Beautiful.

juneau · 03/01/2018 10:05

We liked our hotel in Playa Blanca, but tbh the town itself is rather unlovely. There are some nice restaurants along the seafront and there are supermarkets if you're SC, but the shopping bit is ugly. However, the island, which is wild and rugged and covered in volcanoes and lava is pretty cool and there's plenty to do for a week. We went in Jan two years ago and all loved it.

We're going to GC at Easter, to see what it's like, staying in Puerto Mogan, which after a lot of research seems to be a nice little place. No way would I stay in a big built-up resort. A good friend has been to Los Gigantes in Tenerife and said that was nice - un-spoilt and not too touristy - and she also liked Fuerteventura, which is a bit less touristy than the other main islands.

ShimmeringBollox · 04/01/2018 17:12

How costly is it to do sc in the Canaries? We have done sc elsewhere but have always done ai in FurterVentura.
