Passport renewal + lost passport

Mine, my wife and our oldest sons passports need renewing for travel in 2018
I have mine and my sons but I can't find my wife's! How do I go about renewing hers if I can't find it + how is it to renew a passport nowadays?

Potentially I need 1 brand new passport for youngest son who's never held one
1 renewal for my son who will be 6
1 renewal for me and 1 renewal for my wife's which is expired but also lost... Thanks in advance if you have answers and can point me in the right direction

You need to report the lost one (can be done online) and apply for a new one

Yes, you just apply for a renewal as normal but also tick the "lost" box. If you have a police incident number, you can supply that.
