Accommodation Tips for California (San Diego, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara & Monterey) Please

We've booked flights to California for 2 weeks next May and now need to fill some accommodation gaps! Am going round in circles on Booking.com etc
Have already booked hotels for San Francisco, Yosemite and San Diego but would love some suggestions for San Diego, Palm Springs, Monterey and Santa Barbara please. Preferably with swimming pools to keep DSs happy (realise these are mostly beach locations but they love a pool!)
TIA.

We stayed here for 10 days a couple of years ago and loved it.

The Monterey Bay Inn is great especially if you can get a room with a sea view.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Monteray which was nice and had nice touches like a fire pit by the pool to toast smores.

In Santa Barbara we stayed in the Sand piper which is a motel, rooms okay but very cheap and cheerful

San Diego we stayed in Wyndham garden Bayside. Again very reasonable on the bayside.

All had swimming pools.

The Monterey Youth Hostel. Good value, they have one ensuite family room, really laid back, they make you pancakes in the morning and you can use the kitchen. Table tennis table in the lounge. Very near the aquarium and they will sell you a 2 days for the price of 1 aquarium ticket. Free parking. We stayed in a huge range of different acommodation but this was the most friendly.

The Hyatt in Palm Springs is a hotel that I would recommend. Loved Palm Springs!!.

La Jolla is nicer than San Diego. Are you spending all your holiday in the car! This sounds like a mad itinerary! San Diego was disappointing. I wouldn’t go back.

I didnt find San Diego disappointing. We stayed 3 nights. We spent a whole day at the zoo alone. We ould wasily have found more to do there.

Thanks for the replies - really helpful. We spent part of our honeymoon in California so looking forward to going back. Wont recreate the 2 days we spent cycling around Napa Valley wineries tho!!! BubblesBuddy - I think a lot of people do the sort of trip we have planned. We are staying a minimum of 2 nights in each location so not driving every day and the kids have loved road trips when we have done them before so hopefully will be ok.
