CYPRUS - where's nice?

Never been, have some idea of areas to avoid, but where's nice? Would like to be near a decent beach or two, and a town for strolling around in in the evening - that isn't besieged by drunken Brits in footie shirts.

We went to Polis about ten years ago.
It was really quiet then.
There was a lovley beach in nearby Latchi.

We have been to Nissi bay which is near Ayia Napa but it was quiet then as it was only April. Nissi beach was lovely though. We are off to Pathos in August which has been recommended to me by a few people, including my mate who works at Thomas Cooks. Can't wait!

Paphos was near to Polis.
PAphos was lovley, intersting sites.
The amphitheatre ( can't remember name) is good, and a trip to the ttroodos mountains is a must!
I loved Cyprus and would love to go again.
