Going in July with DS who will be 5. Any recommendations/must sees? We like to get out and about exploring but obviously with DS being young not miles of walking!

Your DS will be the perfect age for the Playmobil funpark. The marine park and the aquarium are good and definitely make sure you see the Blue Grotto.

Gozo is worth a visit too.

Mdina for you - not very interesting probably for your DS but he'll be able to run round the maze of pedestrianised streets pretty safely! Didn't much like Silema - Valetta is interesting - boat trip round the harbour is worth doing. Take beach shoes as some of the beaches are stony (and have jellyfish!).

I haven't been to it myself, but your DS may enjoy the Popeye Village

Second the Gozo visit, not sure what there is for DCs but he'll probably enjoy going on the ferry, which is quite cheap as a foot passenger.

Or you could go on a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon at Comino - a shallow bay that's lovely for paddling.
