Going to Languedoc-Roussillon in May with DH and kids (near Argeles-sur-Mer) and just wondering if anyone could recommend any good places to visit/sights to see...any advice gratefully received!

Theres a really good animal safari park about 30 mins away. Cant just remember its name but its on the way to Perpignan. You can take a picnic and you can spend the whole day there as there is plenty to see.

Depending on the age of your kids, theres a water park as well in the area. havent been there yet but its suppose to be good.

Colliuere is a lovely fishing village / town - well worth a visit.

A drive up into the Pyrennes is also worth a visit.

If you want to go further then Carcasonne is a lovely city to visit, very historic but thats a good day out - probably 1.5 - 2hrs drive which you may not fancy especially if its warm.

If I think of any more, I'll get back. Hope thats helpful.
Argeles has a website as well - www.argelessurmer.fr/

Not far from Spain for a day trip, also city of Perpignan for restaurants and shopping.
See eagles at the Chateau de Valmy, v. close to Argeles

Collioure gorgeous, and the drive to Ceret is nice. Narbonne is a pleasant town for decent shops, not too far away. We stayed in Argeles last May and had a lovely day trip to Figueras in Sapain 9was very hot though!) The kids loved the motorway (on stilts!)!

Hi, you might find (depending on the ages of your kids) that the sea gets deep too quickly around there. We always go to Villeneuve de La Raho where you will find a really safe swimming lake which has a little beach, restaurants & is also patrolled by lifeguards. In case you fall in love with the place, check out www.frenchmobilehomes.com for acconm in Camping la Sirene in Argeles. These are really nice privately owned mobiles, definately worth giving them a call for prices - much cheaper than Keycamp, Canvas & the others.
