Havent been to NY for like 9 yrs. I cant even remember were we ate except for Arthurs Landing in NJ and City Crab on Park Avenue.

For the 1st night we get there wed like to have something booked thats quite relaxed. Like an upmarket TJI friday may be ( like not microwaved lol) , varied menu, casual, middle price range etc. Wed like somewere not to far to walk like 5mins lol or 10 mins cab ride. Were staying at the Gershwin which I believe is round the corner from Maceys. Not the greatest area , but its not my choice as Im tagging along with my sisters college course trip, as is my mum and other sis!!!

We also are going to an Off broadway show addy below and dont know were to eat before

Westside Theatre Downstairs
407 West 43rd Street (Between 9th and 10th Avenues)
New York NY 10036

My mum wants to go to Tavern on The Green , I dont really know if I fancy it , it looks sorta pretty , but inside TRES cheesy , any thoughts ?

Ive got a list below of places we fancy also but wanted any thoughts on those too :

Del frisco (might be a contendor for the 1st night)
China Grill
Metrazur etc - any of charlie Palmer places ??
Oyster Bar - really really want to go , we forgot about it last time
Pastis (used in SATC)
Fedoras (1940 ganster style caberet place)

Cant think what else right now

look forward to others experiences and ideas

Stanton social ?? (or is this way to painful people) !!

We ate at Carmines just off Times Square and it was really good. We went there for lunch and the dishes were so large that DH and I shared a main - Good value, good service and loads of delicious food to eat!!

Hi Melsy..was in NY a few weeks ago for the first time and cannot wait to go back..am terrible for remembering names of places, but remember a great restaurant called "Mortons"(kinda pricey but sister is manager so got it discounted) ..and jsut know it is near broadway as we went after our show.."Chicago". Anyway the reason for my post is to tell you to try and go to China town for the shopping and remember to barter with them. It is great for handbags, purses, sunglasses, jewellery etc etc..all at knock down prices and made my trip..cannot wait to spend my next shopping trip there. ANy body that I know that has been to NY has never went and I would love soemone else to experience what we did.....a shoppers dreamworld.

Thank u JSo , will have a look at Mortons.

I know, its sooo dangerous there with shopping, Im heading for canal street too. We have a photo from our trip in 98 and the room was FULL of bags, couldnt see the carpet ! Those were diff times pre kids and full time work !
