Hi,
We are thinking of going to Rhodes later in the year with dd who will be 1. Can any wise Mumsnetters recommend an area to stay (not too far from the beach but not package-tour land iykwim). I have heard Lindos is nice?

Lindos is lovely. I havent stayed there but visited for the day. Its very picturesque, lots of whitewash houses and little winding streets filled with shops.
Avoid Faliraki, we stayed there and is fine if you want to get out and get plastered everynight ( those were the days )
Also Afandou is supposed to be really nice and fairly quiet.

Lindos is lovely (i went there on honeymoon) but dont know if its ideal for children as all the streets are cobbled and some are quite steep so wouldnt be great for buggies, difficult enough walking in heels
also lindos is 2 and half hour transfer from airport, ixia is upposed to be quietish but nice, rhodes town is great, the old town part is cobbled but nowhere near like lindos. hth

ooh bring back memories of Lindos when i was 14 and on hols with my parents......

I used to live there! Deffo don't go to Lindos as it's hotter than anywhere else on the island and set on a hill with cobbled streets so pushing a buggy would be awful. Ixia is liveley and Falaraki is extra lively. In a pissed up and loud way!

Pefkos is very nice and so is Haraki, which is a little quieter. Both are either side of Lindos. What time of year are you going?

Thanks for the replies.
Good point about the buggy, I didn't think about pushing one on cobbled streets!
We are planning on going September time.
