Do I want to go to Jersey?

With DH and miserable teenage DD and hyper 10yo DS?

What is there to do and is it all horrifically expensive?
Would we need to hire a car?

DH is keen - I just don't know enough about it to make a decision.

It would be our only holiday next year.

have you looked at accommodation costs? I did a few years ago and self catering was very expensive. i decided i didnt want to go there enough to pay significantly more than i would in most other european countries.

maybe changed since then and if someone can convince us i might look again for another year. i think the beaches are supposed to be nice and weather a bit better than on south coast. I also liked the fact that we could take our car on the ferry.

Accommodation seems to be slightly pricier that we usual pay in the UK.
We looked at going years ago as a couple, it seems a long way to go for slightly nicer weather.
Thank you for replying.

I love it but I'm not sure it's all that great for older children.

I had a car but the buses are pretty good. I just don't like having to organise myself around timetables.

Prices are similar to those in the south of England IMO. Accommodation in July/August is stupidly expensive though.

Jersey is lovely if:

  • you like walking
  • you like beaches
  • you like castles/history
  • you like tea shops
  • you like chilling out
you have a DH who flies model aircraft

Jersey not so good if you want shopping, culture, discoes, etc.

It is cheaper to go to Spain.
Hire car is a good idea, or go via ferry with car.

We love Jersey, but it's not to everyone's taste.

The zoo is super, forgot to mention that. No lions and tigers, but lots of endangered animals and informative talks and good enclosures.
