Trying to plan our summer hols. Will take the ferry, probably pembroke-rosslare and spend several days visiting family & friend, finishing in Cashel. Would like a week in a cottage by the sea, and was thinking of somewhere in Waterford, Wexford or Wicklow. Does anyone have a favourite coastal village ot town, or even know of a cottage (it will be the last week of August btw)? TIA

I guess you mean the south-east of Ireland, which incidiently usually gets the best of the sunshine!
Anyway in Waterford we have Tramore which is a popular holiday spot; lovely beach, nice town, BUT quiet lively, lots of chip shops, amusement park, teenagers etc. Nice for a visit but personally I wouldn't like to stay there for a week.
However I would recommend Dunmore East in Waterford; it is a working fishing harbour, but away form the pier area is a lovely quaint, gentle village, nice restaurants, nice beach, quiet park, lots of little coves, and beautiful views. All along the Waterford and Wexford coasts there are beautiful beaches for day-trips, and I would recommend the car-ferry from Passage East in Waterford to Ballyhack in Wexford, as you can stay along the coast line when travelling.

oops, pot of tea, i do mean south-east .
I've seen Dunmore East in a couple of brochures, purpose built holiday cottages which looked nice, so will definately investigate further
