Hotels near Euston Station

I am looking for a hotel near Euston, and I am sure that there IS a nice one next door to the Fire Station - does anyone know it? I know that the Novetel is there as well, but in my grey matter, I thought that one had opened that was more plush.

The poshest hotel in that area is the Meridien in Russell Sq, but unless it is a price-fixed business trip, I think it would be a waste of money. There are loads of big hotels there, and also more economic but clean B&B, eg Guildford St and behind the Meridien. There is also a big youth hostel just opposite Kings Cross, directly opposite the British Library, which takes families, and is a 5-minute bus ride from Euston. I think there is also a Travelinn along the same road. Since all the Channel Tunnel works started at Kings Cross it has improved a lot and feels much safer, largely because there is so little empty street left for those who used to walk the street! I can also send you some ideas of how to spend any money you save by avoiding "plush" but perhaps you really do require plush?
