Which route to Perth Oz?

My close friend has recently moved to Perth and we are thinking of visiting her.

We have a 6yr old and 3yr old.

Which is the best route? Looked at stopping in Dubai then on to Perth or can you go via LA for a few days stopover?

Thanks...

Whatever you do Chipstick, don't google the directions see here!

BA fly to Perth via Singapore. Flight duration in total with transfer is 18 hours 55 minutes.

Do not go there via LAX (pax in transit via there are treated very poorly and are kept in a cramped transit lounge) - you'd be better off flying east.

singapore airlines are brilliant - especially with Children - dh and I and dd1 have flown a number of airlines from Aus to UK and singapore is our favourite - fly via singapore. most direct route. Have a few days stopover in Singapore - fabulous. SIngapore airline is brilliant if you just have a few hours stopover - LA is a bloody nightmare.

Via LA would be much longer - about 10 hours to LA from UK and then 16 hours to the east coast of Aus and then another six across Aus. Not good for flying that wasy with small children. Have done that flight myself - only way I could get to the Uk to start a job - horrible horrible horrible - and that was sans children.

have we mentioned singapore airlines yet?

Don't go via LA
when dh has to to LA he always flies singapore NY first, the other way is a killer unless you really really have to. He stops in Sydney for a bit too when he comes home from LA

Lucky bastard is coming back business class this time

Another one for Singapore airlines here. We travelled with them in 2005 & emigrated with them. They were brilliant.

Deff recommend a stop in Singapore & a visit to Sentosa Island.

THanks so much for all your comments - when my friend emigrated she went with Singapore Airways but she was flying alone with no kids - its good to hear how child friendly they are.

Again, thanks

We are flying Birmingham Perth via Dubai with Emirates in June so no idea what it will be like as have never flown with them with children. For us it was the most quickest route as we avoided London and we only live 15 mins from Brum airport

Harrogatemum · 15/04/2007 19:52

been with Singapore and EMirates with kids - both FAB!
