CAR HIRE in France- Wich companies have you used (or elsewhere)?

Just looking for car hire for July 28-August 11 holidays. Off to South of France, flying in and out of Nice airport.

Need to hire 2 cars for 2 weeks each:

• one small car - 2 adults
• one other car needs to carry 4 adults plus 5yo child in booster seat with back (for when we all go out together)

Both must have air con.

We will take on car site, after bad experience in past, so that is not an issue.

Have done some searches and the cheapest quotes are with companies such as Atlaschoice, 121.com and carhire3000. Avis and Alamo are coming up around £60-90 more expensive per car.

Have you used the cheaper companies and were they fine?

Any other recommendations?

they are brokers

not tried them in France only spain and balearics

wouldn't recommend europcar

had problems with them a couple of times from Nice airport.

they also refused to help us fit baby seat we had just hired from them. Came with no instructions either. Other companies do fit them.

and they are quite expensive.

Must get round to booking this! Anymore comments before I sort some car hire out?

If you will be picking up your hire ar in the dark make sure you have a torch.

We checked ours over and ther were 2 pretty obvious scrapes that we would have missed with out the torch.

So whatever time of day do take the time to look it over and don't just assume it is all perfect and drive off.

Yes, will do the checking. At least this time we aren't relying on their car seats - after bad experience last time!
