In a quandary. Since DS we typically holiday here, next year fancy some sun. Found Barceló Castillo Beach, I think the reviews have put me off all inclusive, but also fancy Castillo royal level. Anyone have any experience of these hotels? Or elsewhere Fuerteventura?
Need somewhere with small kitchen, decent food, good pools for DS etc places to eat for lunch dinner etc oh and need space round the sun loungers, hate being cramped. Any thoughts? Smile

We go to this resort often and have stayed at Barcelo Castillo Beach

The bungalows are basic and comfortable - the bed was fabulously comfortable.

If you like space around the sunlounger, in high season, that's no going to happen. It's rammo.

I could recommend renting a townhouse with shared pool at Amuley Mar 1 and 2.... we do this now - own loungers, quiet pool, residential complex.

There are lots of fab places to eat in Caleta, it's a waste being all inclusive.

Feel free to message me if you want any more info or recommendations.

How old is DS? Can recommend Deep Blue Dive Centre in the harbour for try dives and snorkelling.

We have also stayed at Suite Hotel Atlantis in Correlejo and would recommend for kids of junior school age for activities, pools etc.

It's not rammo at the castillo royal level. It's really quiet and plenty of loungers. It's really lovely but we struggled to get availability after the 1st time we stayed. You are in a separate restaurant than the beach resort people and again it's beautiful overlooking the harbour with lovely food. You'll love it I think if you can get in! It's a brilliant location too. Right by the beach, town and 20 mins from airport. Get a taxi not a shuttle bus. It's about 20 euros and no waiting about and driving round loads of drop offs.

I stayed at Costa Caleta and couldn't fault it . It was kept immaculate . Roof top terrace with a swimming pool made it easier to get away from the crowds by the main pool. In the same street there was a fantastic steak house which was really cheap but lovely . It was €5 for fish and chips with peas... the fish was so big I had to leave half of it. Also a small shop which sold English food too .
The marina sold some great trips and there was little shops in the vacinity which sold the excursions ... the volcanoes in Lanzarote were good and I recommend the catamaran trip from the marina I think that was €49 a lovely day though .
You will have a fab time in Fuertaventura. Great place !

DS is 5, not the best mixer Grin like his mother. Don’t even know why I’m saying space round sun loungers as I don’t even like sunbathing these days. Thanks I’ll have a look over some of your recommendations.
Is Royal level up it’s own backside? DS is pretty lively so wouldn’t want to feel uncomfortable. Decided just to go room only if not the Royal, I think Confused

Well we're not up our backsides and I thought it was fine. Ds was 2 and a bit feral and it was fine. Mealtimes were a bit of a pain as the restaurant was really nice and everyone else's kids seemed really well behaved and trying to get ds to sit and eat every night was like nailing jelly to the wall. Men had to wear pants every night though which I thought was a bit much but if you're not planning on going AI you could just go anywhere to eat and you have your own kitchen anyway. You would be fine around the pool. The staff were all lovely and they put a chocolate on your pillow every night for when you come back in.

Really liked the Royal Level. Would not personally contemplate staying in the main hotel. Pools are rammed and the main restaurant too busy to enjoy every night. The Royal Level restaurant was peaceful and had really good food. The AI option for that level was excellent with premium spirits, any branded ice creams you wanted etc. You could really have anything at all from anywhere apart from a few exclusions and they have a wide range of stuff available as it's not an exclusively AI resort. It was a little confusing and also we stayed 2 years ago and things do change so double check.

If you book direct through Barcelo you get a percentage as resort credit and that covered the few things that weren't included, eg had to pay 50% to eat at the a la carte restaurant. That was great and not expensive anyway.

Fabulous, thank you. I’ll now try and find the best deal which looks like being Barceló themselves Grin
