Can't be furniture or whatever, but any advice about kids pressies or nice things I should ask him for would be most welcome. DH is gorgeous but shopping and taste not his good ponts so would love to give him some ideas.

How about some fabrics? They do fabulous embroidery and it's so much cheaper there than buying the imported stuff here - saris could be used for curtains etc or you could sew some great boho summer frocks from them.

Leather bags are quite reasonable over there, costume jewelry, hair accessories, embroidered blouses, sandals, but, as Pruni says, it does depend on whereabouts he is going.

Pashmina's
Silk scarves
semi-precious gem jewellery
leather indian shoes/slippers for kids, turn up toe type.

He's going to Delhi and Mumbai, Goa and two other places, though not sure where yet. Will find out and dd these in. Great idea about fabrics, could do nice curtainsor cushions, not sure I'm up to a dress at the mo. Love the idea of getting DS a bedspread. DH travels from time to time and would just love DS to grow up surrounded by interesting things from round the globe.

Any other ideas for kids?

Ooh pashminas, that's a good idea. I live in those all year round! Sandals great idea too.

Jewellry sounds fab, semi-precious etc, Are there any stones in partiuclar that are recommended. Always feel sad that I didn't ask him to get me something pearly from his last trip to the Far East.
