Looking at Sardinia for next may for a family holiday as can get cheap flights. Anyone been? Any good resorts to recommend? I don't know much about it. We need - beach nearby ( ideally walking distance) a town would be nice, apartment with a pool preferably and self catering

Really grateful for any tips!

It depends on which airport you're flying to? I flew to olbia in August and had a few lovely days on the east coast. Sardinian beaches are lovely, many are unspoilt and not 'resort-y'.

Alghero. I've only stayed in B&Bs but it's an easy bus ride from Alghero airport. The lido is a lovely long sandy stretch and there are plenty of other beaches nearby. There are hotels/apartment blocks the other side of the road to the lido.

We've stayed east and west coast. Personal preference is west coast. Alghero is pleasant town. Sardinia is very family friendly you'll have a great time.
