Lapland - camera tips?

Going on a day trip to Lapland. Any recommendations for a decent camera that will survive the low temperatures and work well in low light?

Haven't been to Lapland but my Nikon wasn't performing so well in Iceland. Canon had no problems.

My Canon worked well. I made sure I kept it warm inside my snowsuit when I wasn't using it. I read somewhere that the battery doesn't last as long in cold conditions, but it wasn't a problem. My camera is a Powershot SX220, but it is a few years old now. It will have been replaced with something else. I still use it and had some great shots of today's pink sun.
