Christmas short breaks

Need to get away for Christmas. No family of my own and my folks, siblings I just dont want to see given the nightmare they made of Christmas last year.

Any recommendations for being away at Christmas? Nice places that potentially have things open on Christmas day.

New York has places open on Xmas day. Europe doesn't tend to.

We spent a lovely Christmas in Paris- lovely and festive. Things are open but you may need to plan ahead

Spain. Cheap-ish flights, high availability for hotels etc. We were in Malaga old town one year and the lights were amazing. It isn't a very commercial holiday either so don't think you will 'miss' the christmas day feeling. You could also go to Seville, Cordoba or Granada.

Amsterdam was lovely over Christmas and New year. or you could book yourself an indulgent spa type break.
