Any recommendations for the Vendee region?

Hello, we would like to holiday in the Vendee region August 2018. I've looked at campsites but they seem quite overpriced and I'm worried about being stuck in a French haven site. Don't want to spend my holiday at kids play parks but also want enough to keep a 7 and 5 year old entertained.

Dh and I would like to also be able to socialise with other families a bit. We have done a private cottage before but get a bit bored on our own all the time.

I'm imagining a lovely group of cottages/mobile homes with a shared pool and nice walks/countryside/beach surrounding, where like minded families are having holidays too.

Does such a thing exist? Or should I look at campsites? Euro camp seems ridiculous - over £2000 for a tiny static caravan? Or is that what it costs anywhere you go?

Thanks in advance

La Garangeoire. So good it’s the only place we’ve been to twice.

I think you'll really like the look of Aux Yourtes de la Fabrique and Camping Village de Rulieres. Another site that I recommend but it's not so much in the area you're after is Puy Rond Camping. It ticks all of your other boxes!

A bit further south in the Deux Sevres is leshiboux.com not near the coast but your other criteria get covered.
Great reviews on TripAdvisor too.

Yes, another vote for Les Hiboux, if you're not set on the Vendee. We've been twice, the kids loved it so much. The set up really works for kids making friends with the other (usually British) kids and the garden is so big that you don't feel on top of the other families but it's easy to get chatting round the pool. It does book up early though - lots of repeat custom - so you might be too late for this year.

Another vote for La Garangeoire it’s a fabulous site and not a bit like a French Haven. It’s a bit inland so you need to drive to the beach but there are great ones around 15 minutes drive away.

I’d also recommend La Garangeoire, we stayed in the cheapest accommodation and had a great time! Fab beaches nearby and French Go Ape nearby too.

A bit further south but we stayed in the pierre et vacances holiday village at Lacanau. Lots of nice little houses set around a great pool. Nice family atmosphere though the majority of guests were french.
We flew to Bordeaux and hired a car.
