Days out in Maidstone and surrounding area

Hi. Dd is 9mths old and need some fresh ideas as to where to take her for some fun. Can anybody recommend any days out in and around Maidstone? I am quite an outdoorsy person.

Leeds Castle is good for kids. Also Port Lympe and Howletts.

Just spent the day at The Hop Farm in Paddock Wood. Fun to be had there, although thinking about it maybe 9mths is a bit too young. Check out the website, they have lots of different events coming up.

We went to the Rare Breeds Centre very near Leeds Castle on Saturday - it was great, lots of baby animals to stroke and feed, a great woodland obstacle course, tractor rides, fab play areas and - best of all - pig racing!

And it's all for a good cause - it's a residential facility for adults with mental disabilities who work on the farm and in the Garden centre. A really good day out which my children loved!

Take some food and drink, though, there weren't many places to buy them.

Might be a bit far, but we love the "new" beach and adventure playground at the Leas, Folkstone. And Hever castle with its water maze is wonderful too. Port Lympne and Howletts. And Wildwood near Herne Bay is lovely - there is a pack of wolves, and at the moment they have wild boar piglets that are absolutely enchanting!
