Somewhere exotic but cheap flights?

Any suggestions for exotic destinations for 2 adults and 4dc? Flights seem to cost £4k for all of us to Vietnam etc, which is too much. Anywhere similar but cheaper to get to?

We went recently to Cuba. Traveling on our own, staying in Casa Particulars (family homes) and then 5 days in a resort at the end. It was brilliant. For 2 weeks total cost (school holiday flights) £7k. Not quite the same as Vietnam, but a country of contrasts. We went to Havana, valle de Vinales, bay of pigs, Trinidad, Varadero.

Total cost being everything, not just the flights, but car hire, accommodation, fuel, food.

Thailand or India should be cheaper as more direct flights. Morocco?

We got flights with Singapore Airlines to Bali next year for £430 Each. Very reasonable for accommodation and cheap as chips when you get there!

Cuba sounds great. I like the country of contrasts idea.
Does anyone know how much it'll have recovered from the hurricane? Don't mean to sound heartless, but have always wanted to go there and worry not much may be left.

Try Trip Advisor forums, they will know.

The south was fine I think, but Havana and Varadero might have some issues.

Mexico
Jungles, snorkeling with turtles, zip wires, ruins, temples, centres etc

Off to Cuba in 3 weeks I’ll let you know if we’ve got a hotel to stay in when we get there.

DD & her boyfriend have just come back from 4 weeks in Sri Lanka - flights via Dubai with Emirates were c £450 each, & Sri Lanka looks bloody amazing!

They mostly stayed in guesthouses, which were pretty cheap, & had 3 nights at the end in a fantastic luxury beachside hotel for £75 per night (dunno if that was each or for both)

Depends when you'd want to go though as they have a proper rainy season apparently.

Oh, & another bonus of Sri Lanka is that virtually all the people, everywhere, are stunningly nice, friendly & honest. (They travelled quite extensively in SE Asia last summer & that wasn't the same...)
