We are off to paris and was hoping that someone out there would be able to give some ideas of things to do that will keep the children amused!
We are staying at a keycamp just outside paris and we definitely do not want to do disneyland!!!

I think that if you're kids are old enough not to be too bored, you could pretty much do everything with them as you would if you were on your own but I'd defintiely recommend an open bus top tour.
La Defense - if you like heights
The Louvre or Musee D'Orsee (more contemporary)
Parc D'Asterix - I've not been but supposed to be excellent
definitely The science park - loads of cool stuff for kids to interact with and find out about with lots of colourful stuff to look at and a brilliant planetarium. You can go on board a real submarine.
Planet Hollywood for meals.
Paris also has the best carousel rides I've been on (although a bit emabarassing now I'm a mummy).

Forgot to mention - definitely do a boat trip along the Seine too - kids will love that. If it's scorching though, I'd go for one with a roof as the clear top ones are roasting!

Go early (before 10am) to the Arc De Triomphe. Climb the stairs and see great views of Paris. The kids will love it. Far less frustrating to queue for this than the Eiffel tower.
Agree about boat trip as well.
The Natural History museum is absolutely fab. Great animal exhibits and the building is beautiful inside.
If you want a good view of the Eiffel tower, head towards the Maritime Museum. The museum itself might be a bit dull for the kids. Having said that, my family really enjoyed the visit.

Hi I was in Paris last year with three boys, 12, 9 and 4. what some one said about the carousels is true! We went into Paris to the Eiffel tower by train...even that was fun as their trains are different and shortly after the amazing view there was a carousel! So all had to have a ride!
Queued for the Eiffel tower...long but worth it. mine did all the layers and loved it even the youngest...
We ate in the bar on the bottom layer of the three. It has views fabulour food and caters for kids! Its also amazing value! Felt very posh, the kids got colouring and pencils and we had a top notch meal all with a view! the staff were great with kids and they have a kids menu too.
After that we took one fo the boat ferries down the Seine to Notre Dame. It was a hot day but this is a shortish ride and again they didnt get bored.
Notre Dame I wanted to do and thought they would be bored but it was an unexpected hit with them all! they had seen the hunchback of notre dame and that helped of course, but there are all kinds of miniature models and things...Going in is also free.
Nearby there are great cafes which sell lovely ice cream...the kids were in heaven!
Also you can order orange presse....Lemon presse is also made but is pretty sour, but orange juice with sugar and water is nice for kids...

hope some of this helps! We did all these on one day...There are other things too...If like me you love art or want to visit the Louvre you can make kids interested by getting them to spot things in the paintings. I tell my kids to see if they can see dogs, or musical instruments or something like that. you can usually make the visit more of a "hunt" for them without too much work and then you get to enjoy yourself too! Just an idea that works for me!

Have fun!

Fiona
