Hello!

We're planning a holiday, want to go in jan, I'll be 5/6 pregnant so last chance to get away , choices are limited due to Zika virus,

Mauritius look amazing and defo a bucket list, but we can only go for 1 week, flight seems to be 12 hours is it worth it?

Yes it's lovely. We took our kids when they were 5 we did 11 nights. We flew Emirates so it was a much longer flight via dubai.
There's hardly any time difference so not much jet lag.
Is that with air Mauritius you're thinking of? Their in flight service is poor but they do get there quicker

It'll be fine. We always go for just one week when we go to the Maldives, which is further. Mauritius is lovely. Enjoy it - holidays will never be the same again!

Try Thomson.
They fly direct and use a Dreamliner plane.

Backingvocals · 01/10/2017 09:23

Yes worth it. We did ten days but I was sick for two so felt like only a week. Still worth it. Agree that Air Mauritius is a bit ropey.

StinkPickle · 01/10/2017 09:27

It's fine there isn't any jet lag as you fly south not east/west. So a week is fine.

You won't get another holiday like it for 5 long tiring years (seeing as you're pregnant) do definitely take the chance.

Air Mauritius IS ropey. Only one offer of drinks apart from the juice that came on the food tray on a 12 hour flight. They didn't even offer water at night. I was pregnant and trapped under my sleeping toddler and they didn't come for the call bell. Sad

They also broke our bugaboo and has been such a nightmare to try and get compensation from them we have given up. BA also do a direct flight which is a million times better.

Mauritius is gorgeous though and so worth it. I think it's the perfect place to go when pg or with a baby.

Totally worth it I’d say 10 days is enough so a week will be fine, we went to one of the 5star all inclusive on the island and it was paradise. There can be a lot covered in a day or two in the island if you rent a car and then you can relax the rest of the time if thats your cup of tea.

2014newme · 01/10/2017 09:48

That's why with kids we went Emirates they were excellent.
I never book with BA due to strikes
Thomson would definitely be an option pp says they fly direct

Thanks so much for all the replies! Going to go with Thomson and upgrade the leg room on the seats for hubby! Don't really fancy a 12 hour flight but otherwise no winter sun or last holiday so it defo got to be worth it!

So excited! Now need to look for big sexy swimsuits!

Let us know which hotel you go with. I’m wanting to go next Easter.
Trying to decide between Mexico or Mauritius.
