Hi All, just booked our Aug 18 holiday at Primrose Valley Yorkshire. Lovely private caravan so using park as more of a base to explore. Don't mind travelling but preferably not more than an hour at a time. Me, DH & 7yr old DS. Any suggestions on good trips that aren't a waste of money? Definately looking at booking a fossil hunt trip as we'd all love that. Don't mind picnics e.t.c to keep costs down. Any thoughts please?

I definitely recommend a trip to Bridlington just 10 miles south, primarily for the John Bull confectionery factory. You can make your own chocolate lolly, personalise a stick of rock, watch a variety of sweets being made on the factory tour and try samples. There's also a cafe and soft play centre.
Another thing to do in Bridlington, which may be worth a day out in itself, is Sewerby Hall and Gardens which has several gardens to explore, a small zoo, some lovely nature trails and an epic adventure playground.
