Taking dd and her friend for birthday in June. Just wondered about staying in the hotel, cheapest I can get is £166 not including park tickets. Plus my mum lives about 45 mins away and could stay there.

Does anyone know how to do it cheaper, or have a code, and is it really worth it?

Will be watching as planning a vsist in summer. I would say that if your mum lives only 45 mins away, that's too good to miss out on.

check out this link - and put in your dates. You get a result page with cheapest option at end. Company has Nothing to do with me, but I know they are good.

Holiday Extras Alton Towers Theme Park Breaks Hotel stay & park entry from £130

Hi,me and dp stayed in the hotel in September. We booked the imperial suite in the Alton Towewrs hotel (birthday treat)- theres also Splash Landings hotel which is meant to be a bit less nice.

Dinner was dreadful- dont go to the buffet resteraunt whatever you do! Didnt try the a la carte but might be better...

Brekfast was included and was good. Our room was ok, hotel itself was good, had entertainment in the evening plus a nice bar with outdoor bit. The waterpark was excellent. I'd definatly stay there if I went with kids (and had the money!). But it is pricey- Id say its more a one off treat thing- but the kids there seemed to love it. Have a look at trip advisor- theres lots of reviews there of the hotels...

Have fun!

Hi,
I have stayed in both. We took our son as a treat and stayed in splash landings. Its a water theme park. For your interest or anyone out there you can pay and go in as a day visitor just to that and it is really nice especially in winter as it stays open. Its covered too so warm and they have outside slides and hot tubs, although little kids are not allowed in the hot tubs.

If you stay in the hotel two nights booking direct then you will get free entry to the park. Again you probably know alton towers is open only in the season...however you may not kn ow that over the winter season if you stay they open part of the park if the weather is good enough for you, the big rides area mostly. We went in Feb and my son is mad about rollercoasters and was delighted to be riding them when the park was not officially open!
the hotels...
The room promised all kinds of mod cons, but the games machines etc didnt work and they didnt fix them when we were there despite being asked. that disappointed the kids.
The room was like a travel lodge...basic but at least you are on site. You also get to go in the park an hour before official opening in the morning.
Meal times have to be booked especially in summer. It is crowded.
In the Alton Towers hotel the A La carte is not brilliant and the kids hated it...
the last weekend we were there the fire bells kept going off...one spoiled our evening meal there and delayed us an hour! another alarm was 7 am so that meant standing an hour in the car park in the cold in nightclothes! They were not the most organised!
the Splash ladnings personally i think is better. It is a buffet but fantastic for kids...loads of choice but nice things for adults too...Its sort of caribbean influence, so curries that kind of thing, loads of fruit. they also have a view over the pool area which is huge!
If you stay in Alton towers the walk to the pool at splash landings is a way, and your feet do get sore.
Bars in both are nice and they do do entertainments...especially on holidays and weekends..the pool is open till late.
Is it worth it? Well its hard to say in some ways yes, you are on the spot, have the pool, possibly entertainments all on tap. Or if you book one of the special rooms...but they tend to be booked way early!
however the food is not special really, and the rooms are not that fancy1 the kids do get freebies and you get entrance, exciting especially out of season...
Does this help you?
Ask me anything you like! LOL
