Hope you don't mind, but... Erm... how do I start... yes, months or years ago you mentioned that you were able to travel to a long haul destination, spend a few weeks there and only take a small piece of luggage with you. (Since then I worship your packing skills)

I normally pack as for an Alaskan during the 1800s gold fever (mostly because being DS allergic to so many things we have to carry most of his food) so... considering I can not reduce the amount of food we take any further, could you tell me how do you manage to pack so little? I could do with some advice. Pleeeaaaaseee???

ah, see with kids it's a lot harder

i can go with just a back pack for a month on my own

where are you going, firstly?

Chandra · 07/04/2007 13:01

I'm going to Spain. 17 degrees max although a bit cold in the nights. I think if I could manage a small bag for each of us, it would be great.

If I were travelling alone, what would you suggest to take?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions

ok so when i go away i always pack only for a week, no matter how long i am away for, as things can get washed while away, and it reduces the amount of smelly stuff you have to cart back

you wont be needing a bikini then i assume

aside from underwear i would take 2 jumpers one jacket. 4 t shirts, a pair of trousers and/or a skirt and a pair of flip flops

i only take stuff that doesnt need ironing and folds up really small

dont forget you will also have the clothing you are wearing on the way out, so you could probably only need one jumper packing if you wear one on the way

get things like shampoo when you arrive, no point in lugging it about

and i only take the key parts of my make up bag, a concealer , mascara, eyepencil and a lippy

when i went to prague in jan with my bf his suitcase was twice the size of mine ,lol

Thanks Lou, that's very helpful

I think I already had a problem with luggage (particularly with shoes and my girl scout background to carry everything to cover any eventuality) but with DS's allergies the problem has been exarcebated! we have to carry from his milk to the bedlinen (no exageration but his asthma goes wild in new places). So, in urgent need to downsize other areas (aprt of being tired of worrying whether something I bought over there is going to fit -or not- in the luggage.

Thank s again
