Anyone done a family volunteering holiday?

Like, helping build a school in Tanzania or plant pineapples in Costa Rica or something? (Not religious/church-connected though.)

Long shot but I'd be interested in any thoughts/recommendations. My youngest DC would be 8 next summer, if that's when we go ...

Costa Rica is an amazing country wouldn't you rather see it than plant pineapple?

Several threads on this - be very careful. You can't be of much use and you risk taking work from locals. You may also find it tricky to get appropriate visa with a dependent child.

Plenty of volunteering scope in the UK which still gets you outdoors. Best thing you can with abroad is send money, or go as a tourist and spend money.
