Amsterdam next week.....top tips please!

Off with dh and dds of 7 and 9. Have guide book etc but any liitle gems that aren't in the books would be most welcome. Also anyone know if Mon is a bank hol for them too? And do hotels generally have kettles in the rooms there? Cheers.

we will be there on monday too.
Just one day in amsterdam then going to a center parcs for 3 days further south.
dds are 8 and 6 ds 4.
Have been reading guide books ,weather will be good, want them to get a flavour of the city but not tire them out. Thinking about canal boat tour , Anne frank house and perhaps a trip to van gough museum but only to see a few choice pictures and prob not with ds .
Have you got any good ideas? First time we have ever"done" a city with the kids and spent ages deliberating over whether to do it or not.

There's a good science museum. Can't remember what it's called. Will get back to you.
